Quits is an app for splitting expenses between friends. This page says, without legalese, what the app stores, where it stores it and why. If anything here is unclear, write to us — the address is at the bottom.
The whole thing in three lines
- Apple or Google sign-in sends the account identifier, name and email to the server; profile name, colour and Pix key also sync.
- Your groups and expenses remain on your phone until you share a group. The app keeps working offline after sign-in.
- No ads, no trackers, no selling data. The app never moves your money.
What stays on your phone
- Your groups, expenses, settlements, and any receipt photos you take.
As long as you have not shared a group, that group's contents do not leave the device. The account and profile are the exception described below. That is why groups already loaded keep working in airplane mode.
What goes up when you sign in
Quits requires Apple or Google sign-in. The provider gives our authentication service an account identifier, your name and your email address (including Apple's private relay address if you choose that option). After sign-in, the app syncs your profile name, avatar colour and Pix key, if present, so your account and shared groups remain consistent across devices.
What goes up when you share a group
When you tap “Invite by link”, that group starts living on our server too, so the other people can see the same expenses. What goes up:
- The contents of the group: participant names, expenses, amounts, dates and settlements.
- Your Pix key, if you've saved one — it's what builds the payment code on the phone of whoever is paying you. It is visible to the people in that group, and to nobody else.
The data is held in infrastructure contracted by Projectum. Access requires an authenticated account and the invite code. When you join, the account is linked to exactly one participant in that group. Since the code may travel over WhatsApp, share it only with people who should join the group.
If you use Instant Settle
That feature (paying your share on the spot) requires confirming a phone number by SMS. In that case we store your phone number and the minimum details of the payment method — never a banking password, never card details. Payment is authenticated inside your own bank's app, not here. While the feature is switched off, none of this is collected.
What Quits does not do
- No ads, no behavioural trackers, no advertising SDK.
- Does not sell or rent your data. Apple or Google are involved only in sign-in, and contracted infrastructure processes the data required to operate the app.
- Does not move money: payment happens in your bank's app, using the Pix code generated on your device.
- Does not ask for access to contacts, location or microphone.
Receipt photos
If you attach a photo of a receipt, it is stored only on your phone — it does not go to the server and is not shared with the group. The app asks for photo library access only at the moment you tap to pick the image.
Your rights
You can delete your account inside the app under You → Your account → Delete my account. Deletion removes authentication, links and the Pix key. Groups with no other linked account are deleted in full; in shared groups, your name is replaced with “Conta apagada” (“Deleted account”), and only financial ledger entries are retained so other people's balances do not change. If a payment method is connected, it is immediately unlinked from your account; only the reference needed to revoke it at the provider — which in this version may be the Pix key itself — remains temporarily in the financial queue and is deleted as soon as revocation finishes. If you signed in with Apple, the app also shows Apple's official path to revoke the authorization used for that login under “Sign in with Apple”; the Quits app neither receives nor stores the Apple token handled by the authentication service during browser-based sign-in. Leaving a group applies the same cleanup to your link, Pix key and shared identity in that group; its financial ledger remains intact. You can also request a copy or the deletion of the data in a shared group by writing to the address below — we answer within 15 days. Data that only exists on the device you delete yourself, under You → Erase everything and start over, or by uninstalling the app. Brazilian users hold these rights under the LGPD (Law 13.709/2018); we apply the same treatment to everyone, wherever they are.
Children
Quits is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from that age group.
Changes to this policy
If something changes materially, we update this page and the date at the top. Any change that widens data collection will be announced inside the app before it takes effect.
